Delegation

We are all probably aware that we should delegate more. Letting go of the reins, however is another matter. In essence delegation is giving someone else control of something that is part of your job, and most of us have strong feelings about letting control slip from our grasp. This course emphasises the benefits brought by effective delegation, for example:

  • You will create more time for yourself.
  • It can relieve you of the more repetitive and mundane tasks.
  • It extends your capacity to manage effectively.
  • It develops the capacity of your staff to make decisions and to take responsibility.
  • It means that work can continue to be carried out in your absence.
  • Your staff will increase in personal confidence.
They will have a greater range of skills.
  • It allows you to concentrate on your more important work such as planning, organising and motivation.
  • It will reduce your own levels of stress.
  • It will allow you to monitor and measure potential managers.
  • It will allow you to complete a higher number of tasks on a regular basis.
  • You will build a more confident and multi talented team.

It also deals with overcoming the personal pre-programmed objections we have to delegation, giving the manager an effective tool to use in the workplace. Delegating to the wrong person is the most common cause of failure, so this module also helps the manager in deciding who to delegate the process to. Full, step by step systems are included in the module to ensure that delegation is a scientific and operable skill.
